Project Overview

A U.S. fragrance manufacturer required a custom 2000L perfume mixing tank and filtration system for alcohol-based production. The new tank had to be installed at the existing Tank #1 position while retaining the factory’s original platform and staircase arrangement.


Instead of supplying a standalone vessel, HONEMIX configured the tank as the core of a coordinated perfume processing system combining pneumatic mixing, controlled cooling, primary and polishing filtration, electrical-control integration, and preparation for the customer’s specified weighing interfaces.


The project was developed from the standard HPM-EX 2000L perfume freezing, mixing and filtration system, then adapted around the customer’s actual factory access, existing equipment, site utilities and installation requirements.


The engineering priority was therefore both process performance and installation feasibility: 2,000L working capacity, access through a sub-2,000 mm entrance, integration with the existing production area, and practical placement of the cooling and filtration modules.

The customer was producing alcohol-based fragrance products and needed a larger batch-processing system without extensive rebuilding of the existing production area.

Engineering Challenges and Solutions

1. Restricted Entrance Height


The factory entrance had a strict clearance limit below 2,000 mm. For this retrofit, vessel capacity alone was not enough—the equipment also had to pass through the building access route and reach the final Tank #1 position.


Engineering Response: HONEMIX reviewed both the operating configuration and the reduced transport configuration. The pneumatic mixer assembly and detachable tank legs were considered as removable components for installation.

Transport Target: The reduced configuration targeted an overall height of approximately 1,950 mm.

Buyer Value: Confirming transport dimensions before fabrication helped the customer evaluate access feasibility in advance and reduced the risk of unexpected site modification after delivery.


2. Retaining the Existing Platform and Staircase


The customer wanted to retain the existing platform and staircase around Tank #1. The new system therefore had to fit the available production area without compromising operator access, maintenance clearance or process connections.


Layout Coordination: HONEMIX reviewed the Tank #1 position, platform and staircase clearances, manway and product-inlet access, discharge-valve access, control-cabinet position, compressed-air connections and process-piping routes.

Modular Arrangement: The filtration unit and refrigeration package were supplied as separate modules so their final positions could be selected around floor space, ventilation, maintenance access and confirmed piping routes.

Buyer Value: The equipment layout was developed around the existing production area to help avoid unnecessary rebuilding, subject to final site verification.


3. Shared Controls and Weighing-System Interfaces


The new 2,000L tank needed to operate alongside the customer’s adjacent existing tank. The project therefore required coordinated controls and preparation for the customer-selected weighing system.


Control Cabinet: HONEMIX planned one combined cabinet with provisions for both tank control circuits, two Omron E5AC temperature controllers, customer-supplied Mettler Toledo IND360 weighing terminals, voltage monitoring, power indication, Schneider electrical components, refrigeration-control wiring and the required equipment interfaces.

Weighing Preparation: The tank-leg mounting interfaces were prepared according to the confirmed four-load-cell arrangement, and panel positions were reserved for the customer’s IND360 terminals.

Buyer Value: Preparing the mechanical and panel interfaces before fabrication helped reduce the need for field drilling, support modification and control-panel rework after delivery.

Control Cabinet & Pre-Fabrication Review

HONEMIX prepared the cabinet arrangement for the new 2,000L tank and the customer’s existing tank as one coordinated control area. The planned configuration included Schneider electrical components, voltage monitoring, power indication, refrigeration-control wiring and two Omron E5AC temperature controllers.


Before fabrication, the customer could review the functional-button layout, overall cabinet dimensions and relevant panel interfaces, including the positions prepared for the weighing terminals.


Installation Note: Final hazardous-location requirements, installation methods and any locally required approvals should be confirmed according to the actual site classification and applicable regulations.

Cooling System
Cooling Coil: Internal 316L cooling coil with an approximate 180 m total length and 32 mm tube diameter.
Refrigeration Package: Separate 30 HP refrigeration package with two 15 HP compressor sections.
Electrical Configuration: 220V/60Hz/three-phase, according to the confirmed project requirements.
Engineering Consideration: Cooling performance depends on starting temperature, target temperature, alcohol content, formula characteristics, ambient conditions, insulation, batch size and required holding time. Final cooling duty should be evaluated according to the complete process requirement.

Filtration And Transfer System
Transfer Pump: Pneumatic diaphragm pump with an approximate 5 t/h design flow.
Primary Clarification: Size-300 plate-and-frame filter with approximately 1.25 m² filtration area.
Final Polishing: 20-inch, three-cartridge polishing-filter housing in 304 stainless steel.
Product Piping: 316 stainless-steel product piping and fittings.
Filtration Strategy: The plate-and-frame filter was configured for primary clarification after controlled cooling. The cartridge-filter stage supports final product polishing before transfer to storage or filling.
Selection Note: Final filter media and cartridge micron rating should be selected according to the actual fragrance formula, wax or particulate load, desired clarity, pressure drop and expected filter life.

Scope Of Supply And Site Responsibilities


HONEMIX Scope: Customized 2000L mixing tank, pneumatic agitation system, internal cooling coil, filtration equipment, refrigeration package, combined electrical control cabinet and project-specific engineering documents according to the confirmed technical agreement.

Customer Site Scope: Final equipment locations, local utility connections, site piping, customer-supplied weighing equipment, final installation conditions and any hazardous-location classification or local approvals required for the facility.

Final Site Confirmation: The final positions of the refrigeration and filtration modules, together with copper-pipe routing and pipe length, were to be confirmed from the completed site layout and actual installation conditions.

1.Was This A Standard 2,000L Perfume Machine?

No. The project was developed from a standard 2,000L perfume processing concept, but the final configuration was adapted to the customer’s restricted access route, Tank #1 location, existing platform and staircase, combined electrical-control requirement and customer-supplied weighing-system interfaces.


2.How Was The Entrance-Height Restriction Addressed?

The tank used removable legs and removable upper mixing components. The project review targeted an approximately 1,950 mm reduced transport height to help meet the customer’s sub-2,000 mm access requirement. Final feasibility still depends on confirmed equipment dimensions, packing method, lifting method, route width, turning radius and actual site conditions.


3.Can One Control Cabinet Support A New And Existing Tank?

Yes, where the confirmed electrical design, site power, operating logic, interlocks and local safety requirements support the arrangement. For this project, one combined cabinet was planned with provisions for the new 2,000L tank and the customer’s adjacent existing tank.


4.Can The Tank Be Prepared For A Customer-Supplied Weighing System?

Yes. If the weighing-terminal model, load-cell arrangement and mounting dimensions are confirmed before fabrication, HONEMIX can prepare the tank-leg interfaces and reserve the relevant panel positions. This project was prepared for a customer-supplied four-load-cell arrangement and Mettler Toledo IND360 terminal interfaces.


5.Can The Chiller And Filters Be Installed Separately From The Tank?

Yes. The refrigeration package and filtration equipment were configured as separate modules. Their final positions can be determined according to actual floor space, ventilation, maintenance access, process routing and final utility conditions.
